Suspect Atif Zaman intended to kill five investors besides Abbas: police
KARACHI: Atif Zaman, who gunned down business partner Mureed Abbas, on Thursday claimed that he intended to kill as many as five people after investors demanded their money back.
According to SSP Investigation South Tariq Dharejo, the suspect showed other businesses as his own to get money from investors. Zaman gave lent money to people as profit to build their trust towards him but failed to continue in his scam on failure to get more clients.
A police team has also been directed to search for the suspect’s brother Adnan Zaman, who was reportedly involved in the killing of Abbas.
Investigations revealed that the entire scam was worth an estimated Rs400-500 million, which also involved smuggling. Zaman was able to obtain Rs100-120 million investment from Abbas in a so-called tire business.
The police investigator said that the medical of suspect Atif Zaman shows that he wasn’t intoxicated while gunning down Mureed and Khawar.
Abbas’s father in law told media that his daughter received a call from Abbas at 8 pm telling her that he was meeting with Zaman to recover his money.
An hour later, reports surfaced that Abbas had been shot dead and the body was found in the finance department of Zaman’s office in Ambala suite.
