Babar Azam refutes rumours of grouping in Pakistan team during CWC 2019
Pakistan cricket team run-machine Babar Azam said that Pakistan suffered because of their loss to the West Indies in their first group stage match in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
While speaking at a presser along with opener Imam-ul-Haq at Lahore on Tuesday, Babar Azam said that the defeat to West Indies hurt Pakistan’s chances of making it to the tourney’s semi-finals.
Responding to a question about the rumours of grouping in the team, Babar said that there was no grouping in the team.
The 24-year-old said that he was happy breaking a legend’s record. “It is an honour to break a record of legend such as Javed Miandad.”
On the other hand Imam-ul-Haq said that the presence and absence of chief selector on tour does not affect the team’s performance.
“There were 10 other teams in the World Cup and they all came prepared,” Imam added.
Responding to a query regarding Inzamam’s nephew, Imam said there were no pros or cons of being Inzamam’s nephew. My task is to perform. I do believe in the Almighty.
