Pacer Ferguson available for clash against India: Kiwis coach
New Zealand got a big boost with the news of their paceman Lockie Ferguson’s availability for selection for the 1st semi-final against India at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester on Tuesday.
Kiwis’ head coach Gary Stead has confirmed that Ferguson will be available for the semi-final against India, saying the pacer looks in “good shape” and he expects him to play at Old Trafford.
The 28-year-old speedster is leading wicket-taker for the Black Caps with 17 wickets in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and his return would be major boost for Kane Williamson and his team against high-flying India.
While talking to reporters, Stead said that he is absolutely expect Lockie to play. If the last game was a semi-final or final, we probably would have played him.
Stead also commented on the poor form of opener Martin Guptill saiid: “Martin’s got a lot of ODI hundreds and he has been a key player for us in the past. Our job as support staff is to get him in the right frame of mind. He’ll go out and express himself and who knows, if he makes 150 in the next game, then we probably won’t be talking about this anymore.”
