ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday congratulated Pakistan cricket team for its remarkable comeback against New Zealand in a crucial match of the ICC Cricket World Cup.

In a message on Twitter, Imran Khan lavished praise on centurion Babar Awan, Haris Sohail and Shaheen Afridi for their brilliant performances.

Congratulations to our cricket team for a great comeback. Congratulations especially go to Babar, Haris and Shaheen for their brilliant performances,” Khan tweeted shortly after Pakistan defeated Kiwis by four wickets to keep their semis hopes alive.

Babar Azam was the chief architect of Pakistan’s win due to his century that was first in 32 years from any non-opening batsman after Salim Malik.

The stylish batsman also completed his 3000 runs and became the second fastest in the history of the game to do so.

Pakistan will have to beat Bangladesh and Afghanistan and hope other results go in their favours to qualify for the semi-final. ‘
