Maulana Tariq Jameel finds nothing wrong in artists hosting Ramazan shows
ISLAMABAD: Religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel on Thursday held celebrities on esteem over Punjab Assembly’s ban on showbiz persons from hosting and attending Ramazan transmission.
“There is nothing bad in artists hosting special transmission on television for the holy month of Ramazan,” the renowned scholar said in an interview.
It is the duty of every Muslim to indulge in discussions about religion,” he said.
However, Maulana Tariq Jameel added that individuals should refrain from engaging in unnecessary discussions.
On May 2, the provincial assembly passed a resolution calling for a ban on showbiz celebrities from hosting and attending Ramazan transmissions.
Muavia Azam Tariq, the lawmaker of Pakistan Rahe Haq Party, had moved the resolution which was passed unanimously by both treasury and opposition benches.
The resolution regretted that “in the race for media ratings, Ramazan transmissions are hosted by the people who know nothing about Islam”, urging the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to impose a ban
