Eid-ul-Fitr: SBP to issue fresh currency notes from May 20
KARACHI: With the start of the holy month of Ramazan, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) have issued the dates of fresh currency notes.
New notes for Eid-ul-Fitr will be provided between May 20 and May 31 and would be available at 1700 branches of 142 cities, SBP stated.
According to details, country’s central bank has announced an SMS service. People will get themselves registered on it before visiting the designated branches for availing fresh currency notes.
In order to get registered, people are required to send message to 8877 along with their CNIC numbers and branch codes of the bank.
Following to which, people will receive an SMS carrying all details including Redemption Code, E-Branch Address and Expiry Date of Redemption Code.
The consumers are asked to visit their respective e-branches along with original CNIC, a photocopy of the CNIC and the Redemption Code received through 8877 after which consumers will get new currency notes.
People can also visit the State Bank‘s six field offices to get the currency notes .
