Sidhu to attend Kartarpur inauguration ceremony on Nov 9
NEW DELHI: Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu confirmed that he would attend the inauguration ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor on November 9.
The Indian Congress leader reportedly called Senator Faisal Javed and confirmed his participation in the historic event.
Sidhu thanked Pakistan government, especially Prime Minister Imran Khan, for opening the corridor on the 550th Birth Anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Devji.
Speaking on this occasion, Senator Faisal Javed congratulated Navjot Singh Sidhu and the entire Sikh community.
“Pakistan is ready to welcome Sikh yatrees,” he said.
Meanwhile, Foreign Office spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisal said that Navjot Singh Sidhu will be issued a visa in this regard.
Addressing the weekly press briefing today, the FO spokesperson said that on the occasion of Baba Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary, Pakistan has waived [the requirement] for pilgrims to carry their passports for the 550th birth celebrations.
In addition, Pakistan has waived the requirement to convey pilgrim information to the Pakistani government 10 days prior to entry through Kartarpur Sahib Corridor from Nov 9 and Nov 12.
