Govt committee asks NAB to clarify stance on Nawaz Sharif’s removal from ECL
ISLAMABAD: A government’s committee began deliberations to life name of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif from Exit Control List (ECL).
The first sitting ended without any conclusion as the committee asked National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to clarify its stance on Nawaz Sharif’s travel.
The subcommittee members directed the accountability watchdog and asked it to clarify its viewpoint after talking to a ‘competent authority’.
The committee will forward its findings to the federal cabinet which takes the final decision under Prime Minister Imran Khan.
PML-N leader Ataullah Tarar represented party president Shehbaz Sharif – who had filed the application to remove Nawaz Sharif’s name from the ECL – in the meeting.
Earlier on Monday, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) said the government itself should look into the matter of excluding Nawaz Sharif’s name from the ECL.
Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to travel to UK in an air ambulance on Wednesday.
