Cyclone Maha likely to weaken into a depression
The severe cyclonic storm Maha is expected to weaken into a depression by Thursday evening after a weeklong movement in the Arabian Sea.
As Cyclone Kyaar dissipated off the coast of Somalia, another cyclonic storm built up in the Arabian Sea which was predicted to turn into a severe cyclonic storm. The cyclone, which was later 550km from the coast of Pakistan, moved towards the Indian coast.
Cyclone Maha has been moving eastwards with a speed of 10 kmph from past six hours, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said, predicting that it won’t hit the Gujrat coast.
It further said that Cyclone Maha is very likely to move east-northeastwards, weaken into a deep depression over the northeast and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea during next 12 hours.
PMD forecasted has heavy rains in various localities, adding that the mounts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir are likely to receive snowfall today while heavy winds and thunder lightening will strike some areas in those regions.
