Ahsan Iqbal responds to DG ISPR’s comments on Azadi March
ISLAMABAD: Senior PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal took a swipe at DG ISPR over his support for the PTI government amid opposition’s calls for Imran Khan’s resignation as Prime Minister of Pakistan.
“It would have been great if DG ISPR had issued similar statement when Imran+Qadri dharna sabotaged Chinese President visit in Sep 2014,” Ahsan Iqbal tweeted referring to the prolong sit-ins staged by PTI and PAT in a failed bid to oust Nawaz Sharif from power.
His tweet came after DG ISPR Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor extended army’s full support to Imran Khan government and warned the marchers against any attempt to harm national stability.
He maintained that Pakistan Army was a non-partisan institution which always supported democratically elected governments.
The ISPR chief said opposition should take its reservations to the concerned institutions instead of leveling allegations on streets.
He said Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman should tell which institutions was he referring to in his speech to Azadi March protesters.
All political parties should resolve their problem with in the limits of law and constitution, he added.
