Shehbaz Sharif welcomes British royal couple to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday welcomed the visit of Prince William and Kate Middleton on their maiden visit to Pakistan.

“I warmly welcome the royal couple on their visit to Pakistan. It underscores deepening friendship b/w our countries,” Sharif said in a statement on Twieer.

“UK has been a great development partner of Pakistan. With DFID’s cooperation, Punjab achieved various milestones during our govt for which we will always remain grateful!,” Sharif added.

His tweet came after the couple on arrived in Islamabad on Monday night to kick off a historic five-day trip to Pakistan.

The Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge were greeted by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his wife at the Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi.

Two children clad in traditional dress presented bouquet of flowers to the distinguished guests. The guests thanked them and talked to them for a while.

The royal couple is scheduled to visit Northern Areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The duo is scheduled to meet with President and Prime Minister besides attending other engagements in Lahore and Islamabad.
