ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday prayed for the health of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.

In a Twitter statement on Thursday, PM Khan said that he had directed all concerned to ensure best possible health care for the former prime minister.

“Political differences notwithstanding, my sincere prayers are with Nawaz Sharif for his health. I have directed all concerned to ensure provision of the best possible health care and medical treatment to him,” Khan tweeted.

His tweet came a day after the three-time former premier was rushed to Lahore’s Services Hospital from Jail in critical condition.

The delay in transfer of Sharif to hospital despite his doctor’s recommendations sparked online outrage.

Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid said that Nawaz Sharif had been admitted to hospital with a platelet count of 10,000.

After transfusions, this was brought to 25,000. However, on Wednesday night, the platelet count dropped once again to 7,000, prompting another round of transfusions. Healthy individuals have a baseline platelet count between 150,000 and 450,000.
