JUI-F leader Mufti Kifayatullah arrested for chanda collection, inciting public
ISLAMABAD: JUI-F leader Mufti Kifayatullah has been arrested on charges of collecting chanda and inciting to people for taking part in his party’s Azadi march.
According to sources, Mansehra Police and other law enforcement agencies conducted a joint operation in Islamabad’s Sector E-11/3 and took the JUI-F leader into custody.
According to an order issued by the DC Mansehra, the activities of Mufti Kifayatullah are posing grave threat to public safety which may create disturbance to public tranquility and danger to human life and safety.
The order said the situation was snow-bowling into serious law and order problem. He is believed to have been shifted to Central Jail Haripur.
The move came a day after NADRA revoked the nationality of former JUI-F senator Hafiz Hamdullah, claiming he was an Afghan national.
In addition, Maulana Shafiq-ur-Rehman and Maulana Muhammad Irshad were also arrested from Shams Colony.
According to the police, the two JUI-F leaders were asking people to participate in the Azadi March.
The development came as the opposition parties launch massive anti-government demonstration from Karachi where the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has already finalised arrangements.
JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman will himself lead the Azadi March, a statement issued by the party on Thursday had stated.
