Court rejects Captain (retd) Safdar’s bail plea
LAHORE: A judicial magistrate on Saturday dismissed bail plea of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar in the anti-government speech case.
Safdar, the son-in-law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, was arrested on October 22 in a case relating to hate-speech made against the state institutions on October 11. Muhammad Safdar was taken into custody from Ravi Toll Plaza.
On October 12, a Lahore sessions court approved Safdar’s interim bail till October 26 in a case against him regarding interference in public matters and misbehavior with the police.
According to Muhammad Safdar’s lawyer, Farhad Ali Shah, if a provocative statement was given, the notification would have to be written as per law whereas Captain Safdar was not notified about it.
