RAWALPINDI: Nine Indian soldiers have been killed in an exchange of fire with Pakistani forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir, ISPR said.

The clash took place in Jura, Shahkot and Nousehri sectors following unprovoked ceasefire violations from India.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, DG ISPR Mej-Gen Asif Ghafoor said that Pakistan had effectively responded to the shelling, killing nine Indian soldiers.

Two Indian bunkers were also destroyed, he said.

“Targeting innocent civilians by Indian Army is an attempt to justify their false claims of targeting alleged camps. Injured civilians evacuated to District hospitals. UNMOGIP as well as domestic & foreign media have open access to AJK, a liberty not available in IOJ&K,” he wrote.

“Indian Army shall always get befitting response to CFVs. Pakistan Army shall protect innocent civilians along LOC & inflict unbearable cost to Indian Army. Indian lies to justify their false claims & preparations for a false flag operation will continue to be exposed with truth.”

During the exchange of fire, one soldier & 3 civilians embraced martyrdom while two soldiers and five civilians injured, added General Ghafoor.

Earlier, Azad Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider condemned the “ruthless shelling” by Indian.

“Indian forces in occupied Kashmir have gone berserk. In overnight ruthless shelling they have martyred 6 civilians n wounded another 8 in Muzaffarabad n Neelum districts. This is the height of savagery. The world must not stay silent over it,” he tweeted.
