Sylvester Stallone, Richard Gere almost traded blows over Diana
Hollywood actors Richard Gere and Sylvester Stallone almost got into a fistfight at a party years ago over Princess Diana.
The revelation was made by globally acclaimed singer Elton John in his memoir. According to Elton, he once threw a party several years ago and both Stallone and Gere attended the event.
According to Elton, Gere had recently broken up with his girlfriend Cindy Crawford and Princess Diana had also separated from Prince Charles.
According to Elton, Diana and Gere were ‘pretty taken with each other’–and that did not go down well with Stallone at all.
Elton wrote that Stallone may have attended the party with the intention of taking Diana home.
“I think he may have turned up to the party with the express intention of picking Diana up, only to find his plans for the evening ruined,” he writes.
Elton then said that while the other guests made their way to the dining room of the mansion, Stallone and Gere were nowhere to be found. His now-husband David Furnish said that he found Gere and Stallone in a hallway, about to settle their differences over a fistfight.
Furnish acted like nothing was wrong and diffused the situation by urging the two to join the others. The situation between Diana and Gere resumed as the princess was ‘gazing raptly at’ Gere by the fireplace after dinner had ended.
Stallone, on the other hand, ‘stormed off’ after dinner.
“‘I never would have come,’ he snapped, as David and I showed him the door, ‘if I’d known Prince [expletive] Charming was gonna be here,” John writes. “Then he added ‘If I’d wanted her, I would’ve taken her!'”
