Prince William, Kate Middleton to arrive in Pakistan today
ISLAMABAD: The Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, will arrive in Pakistan today (Monday).
According to details, the royal family will arrive in Islamabad at 9pm. The visit, which begins today and culminates on October 18, was organised by the United Kingdom’s (UK) Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
A day ago, British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Thomas Drew, had tweeted that the purpose of the royal family’s visit to Pakistan was to highlight the country as a “dynamic, aspirational and forward looking nation”.
The visit by members of the British royal family to Pakistan come 13 years after Prince Charles and Camilla, the Prince of Wales and the Dutchess of Cornwall, visited Pakistan.
The handout from Kesington Palace said that during their visit, the royal couple will spend time in Islamabad, Lahore, Gilgit-Baltistan and other regions to the west.
The handout also said that Prince William’s and Kate Middleton’s visit will span 1,000 kilometers and the couple will take in Pakistan’s rich culture and its beautiful landscapes.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the royal couple’s visit to Pakistan would strengthen ties between the UK and Pakistan.
He said that people still fondly remember Princess Diana in Pakistan.
