Prince William, Kate Middleton to visit Lahore today
Prince William and Kate Middleton will visit Lahore today (Thursday) according to the itinerary of the royal couple.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will meet Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Governor Chaudhry Sarwar.
This is the first time in 13 years that the British royals are coming to Pakistan. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla last came to Pakistan in 2006 when they were visiting the region.
The couple’s itinerary includes a visit to the SOS Children’s Village, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, the National Cricket Academy and the Badshahi Mosque.
Kate and William arrived in Pakistan on Monday night and embarked on the second day of their visit to a girl’s college in Islamabad. The two also attended an event at Margalla Hills ad met Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Alvi.
The next day, the royal couple embarked on a visit to Chitral where they wore the traditional Chitrali caps and met locals. The duchess became quite popular with the locals after pictures of her dressed in the traditional shalwar kameez went viral.
The royal couple are in Pakistan till October 18. The purpose of their visit is to strengthen ties between the United Kingdom and Pakistan. The royal couple are here to meet business leaders, the youth, sports personalities and celebrities.
Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Alvi thanked the royal couple for visiting the country and spoke to them on a number of issues, including climate change.
