Pakistani filmmakers win prestigious awards at Busan International Film Festival
Pakistani director Hamza Bangash’s debut film Mariam got the first prize at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).
The BIIF is one of Asia’s most significant film festivals, and is held annually in Haeundae-gu, Busan, South Korea..
Hamza Bangash posted a picture on Instagram of the occasion, with the caption: “We WON! I still can’t believe this happened. My feature film debut project, Mariam, has picked up the first prize MPA-AFA award at BIFF”.
The MPA-AFA award grants a five-day immersion program in which Hamza Bangash will pitch his film to American producers, and, at about the same time, Sarmad Khoosat’s Zindagi Tamasha will hit theatres.
