Last year, Shafi had accused Zafar of sexual harassment on more than one occasion. Zafar had denied the accusations and claimed that Shafi was lying in a bid to promote her career and destroy his.
Meesha had filed a sexual harassment complaint to the provincial ombudsperson against Ali Zafar. The complaint had been thrown out by the ombudsperson on technical grounds as both did not have an ’employer-employee relationship’.
Shafi then filed an appeal against the decision of the ombudsperson with the governor of Punjab who also upheld the ombudsperson’s verdict.
She had then gone on to file an appeal against the verdict of the Punjab governor with the Lahore High Court.
