Hope Altaf Hussain will spend his last days in jail: Fawad Chaudhry
ISLAMABAD: Federal Science Minister Fawad Chaudhry expressed the hope that MQM found Altaf Hussain would spend the rest of his life in jail.
“Hope justice ll be served and this lunatic murderer ll spend his last days in Jail,” Chadhry tweeted shortly after Altaf Hussain was charged by London police with encouragement of terrorism offence for his August 2016 speech.
MQM founder Altaf Hussain was charged by Metropolitan Police on Thursday in terrorism offence for his August 2016 address.
According to the Met police, Hussain has been charged under Section 1(2) of the Terrorism Act, 2006 which includes charges of encouraging terrorism.
Hussain was previously arrested on 11 June on suspicion of intentionally encouraging or assisting offences contrary to Section 44 of the Serious Crime Act 2007. He was released on bail and subsequently charged as above.
The MQM founder had lashed out at law enforcement agencies and rival political parties on August 22 in a public address. Following his incendiary speech, the offices of ARY News and SAMAA were attacked.
Hussain was also accused of chanting anti-Pakistan slogans.
A team of London police arrived in Islamabad in April to gather evidence and photographs of the people who were involved in the attack on the media houses. Sindh Police officers were asked to come to Islamabad and record their statements.
The Metropolitan Police had visited Islamabad in a bid to present the case to the Crown Prosecution Service to determine whether there was sufficient evidence to prosecute the MQM founder or not.
