Dawn’s story on Jami’s #MeToo claim reappears after meeting with controversy

Pakistani filmmaker Jami recently came forward with a #MeToo revelation himself, stating that he was also ‘brutally raped’ by a ‘powerful person’ in the media industry.
Taking to Twitter, Jami shared why he supported the #MeToo movement. Without naming anyone, Jami tweeted that he was raped 13 years ago by a person who had a ‘giant’ stature in the media industry.

Shortly after Dawn grabbed the story, it later emerged on social media that the newspaper giant had scrapped the story.

Dawn first covered the Jami rape allegations story – where he said a “media giant and tycoon” had raped him 13 years ago – I had noticed how quickly they had covered it
The story has been taken down now …

Hope friends at Dawn have the balls to ask the management why the Jami rape allegations story has been taken down … since Dawn takes pride in reporting the truth and siding with the underdog …

Another media duo, The News International and Geo News, also followed its lead and shelved the story.
Later, the move met with controversy on social media and the trio took a backfoot. The stories featuring the Jami case were back up, perhaps not on the main page.
In a long thread, Jami said that he still didn’t have the courage to name the person who raped him. Jami stated that he knew his friends would laugh at him and make fun of him but it was high time that he spoke the truth about what happened to him.
