Chitral’s famous plane restaurant is back in business
After a short shutdown, the famous Chitral plane restaurant, called the Fokker Friendship Restaurant, is back and operational once more.
The restaurant is built inside a former Pakistan International Airline (PIA) Fokker F27 48-seater aircraft, which had crash-landed on 16th June 2004 at Chitral Airport. A retired PIA pilot bought it after it was decommissioned and proceeded to turn it into a café.
The restaurant was sealed by Assistant Commissioner Alamgir on the orders of Deputy Commissioner Lower Chitral, Khurshid Alam Mehsud, as it was supposedly threatening flight operations.
However, the owner of the restaurant has finally been allowed to run his restaurant again.
