Ajrak number plates with tracking chips to be introduced in Sindh
The Excise Department of Sindh has decided to manufacture chip-based number plates with Ajrak design for all vehicle owners in the province.
When scanned, the chips will provide all the information about the vehicle and the registered owner.
The trackable number plates are expected to be available by the year 2020.
Secretary Excise Abdul Haleem Shaikh said 300,000 trackable number plates will be produced in the first batch.
The chip will help track cars if reported stolen.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and the provincial cabinet are yet to give their approval.
