Waqar Younis more qualified to be head coach than Misbah: Yousuf
Former Pakistan batting great Mohammad Yousuf on Thursday lashed out at Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and said that head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq’s appointment was not based on merit and questioning how he would be able to spot first-class talent on the basis of “scorecards” alone.
According to Geo News, Yousuf said “The head coach will be with the national team then how would he be able to watch first-class players with his own eyes?”
“The chief selector will have to rule on the basis of scorecards or through what the provincial coaches feed him. So if provincial coaches have to do all the work then what was the need of a chief selector?”, he asked.
Yousuf said that if merit alone was the criteria then “bowling coach Waqar Younis was a more qualified for the head coaching role.”
