Qureshi briefs UNHRC President on Kashmir situation
GENEVA: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi met with UN Human Rights Council President Coly Seck in Geneva and discussed unilateral steps taken by India on fifth of last month in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the gross human rights violations committed by it.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi apprised the President Human Rights Council that India wants to change the demographic composition of population through these unilateral steps, according to Radio Pakistan.
He said the illegal steps taken by India contravene the international laws and also negate the UN Security Council resolutions.
“Curfew is in place in Occupied Kashmir since the fifth of last month with communication totally blocked,” he said.
Qureshi said innocent and oppressed Kashmiris are looking towards the international community including the Human Rights Council in hope of justice.
President Human Rights Council Coly Seck expressed concern on human rights abuses and said whole world is deeply watching the situation.
