PTI MPA submits bill calling on schools to hire psychologists as faculty members

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of Provincial Assembly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ayesha Bano, on Saturday, presented a bill that called on schools to hire psychologists as faculty members.

Ayesha Bano, PTI’s MPA from the WR-10 constituency, presented the bill during a session of the assembly.
Ayesha claimed in a tweet that she had submitted the bill so that children could seek more help in securing knowledge and teachers would also be able to teach in a better way.

“Passed a resolution to have psychologist as part of faculty in schools & colleges ths will support stdnts’ ability to learn & teachrs ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, &behvr 2 help childrn succeed acadmically, socially, behviorlly & emotionlly,” she tweeted.

According to the bill, schools that were charging Rs5,000 fees or more were required to hire a psychologist. Schools that were charging fees below Rs5,000 have been called on to hold at least one session per week conducted by a psychologist.

The bill stated that children were prone to drugs and suicidal attempts owing to societal pressures and other matters. It also mentioned that child abuse cases were being reported and were on the rise in society.
