PCB reacts to Sri Lanka statement on security threats
LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday reiterated its commitment to provide complete security to Sri Lankan team.
The statement cam after Sri Lanka Cricket Board said that it had received information from Prime Minister House regarding a possibility of terrorist attack on the visitors.
According to the statement, the Sri Lanka Cricket has sought the assistance of the Sri Lankan Government to conduct a reassessment of the security situation in Pakistan ahead of the national team’s planned tour to Pakistan.
“The decision was taken following a warning, the SLC received from the Prime Minister’s Office, sent via the Ministry of Telecommunication, Foreign Employment and Sports,” the statement said.
“Accordingly, the warning highlights that the Prime Minister’s Office has received reliable information of a possible terrorist threat on the Sri Lankan team, while touring Pakistan,” it added.
The PCB said it had not received any information relating to safety of the Sri Lanka team.
