No Pakistani among Karbala stampede victims: FO
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that there was no Pakistani among those killed in a deadly stampede at Karbala during Ashura.
In a statement on Tuesday evening, Foreign Office spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisal said Pakistan Embassy Camp Office in Karbala was closely monitoring the situation.
“We offer our profound condolences over the loss of so many precious lives in the stampede in Karbala. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families,” Dr Faisal wrote.
“We also pray for the speediest recovery of the scores of pilgrims injured in the incident.”
Pakistan Embassy Camp Office in Karbala is closely monitoring the situation. As per available information, Pakistani Zaireen are safe, added Dr Faisal.
At least 30 people died and more than 100 were wounded during a mass stampede at Imam Hussain Shrine in Karbala during Ashura commemorations.
