No change in nuclear policy; PM comments taken out of context: FO
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisal has clarified that there is no change in Pakistan’s policy on use of nuclear weapons.
“Prime Minister’s comments on Pakistan’s approach towards conflict between two nuclear armed states is being taken out of context,” Dr Faisal said in a statement.
“While conflict should not take place between two nuclear states, there’s no change in Pakistan’s nuclear policy,” he added.
His clarification came after British news agency Reuters quoted PM Khan as saying that Pakistan would not use nuclear weapons first in an armed conflict with India.
Speaking at International Sikh Convention in Lahore, PM Khan said that the Kashmir tension could lead to a nuclear war, but Pakistan would never start a conflict with India.
