Kasur: Shocked Mazari blames Bilawal-led NA committee for Zainab Bill delay
ISLAMABAD: Federal Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari said that she was shocked to see continuing stories of child abuse victims surfacing in Kasur.
In a series of tweets on Wednesday morning, Minister Mazari lamented that Zainab Alert Bill had been languishing in National Assembly committee for months.
She said that PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was the head of the NA Committee on human rights.
“Shocking to see continuing stories of child abuse victims surfacing in Kasur. Our Zainab Alert Bill has been with NA Standing Committee on Human Rights chaired by BBZ for months now. His subcommittee made final amends with our MOHR but the Bill languishes in Comm. Not sent to NA”
“Our MOHR wrote to Standing Comm to forward Bill to NA along with the Persons with Disabilities Bill – which was also finalised with sub comm after amends – but so far both bills with Standing Comm – frustrating procedures of unnecessary delays in HR non-political legislation.”
“Letter MOHR sent to Standing Committee in August after final agreements reached in subcommittee on the two bills – also note how long these Bills have been lying with the Committee after being introduced in NA!”
