The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday sent a notice to Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry in relation to a petition seeking his disqualification.
The top court also issued notices to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), seeking a response from the three within two weeks.
The petition seeks Fawad’s disqualification under Article 6(1)(f) of the Constitution for concealing his assets while submitting his nomination papers to the ECP.
The petitioner’s lawyer said Fawad did not declare the property he owns in Jhelum, therefore, the minister is not Sadiq and Ameen.
According to the constitutional article, a person can be disqualified as a member of the national or the provincial assembly if he is not ‘Sadiq and Ameen’
The lawyer contended that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khwaja Asif was also disqualified on the same grounds.
