Bilawal opposes govt’s attempt with media tribunals
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly opposed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s move to launch media tribunal.
“The PPP Government wants to imprison media critics in false cases as it has done to political opponents,” the PPP leader said.
Bilawal said the government has found an easy way to silence political opponents and critics by unleashing NAB.
Prior to this, the NAB tried to silence political opponents. Now, media tribunals are also being set up to target opponents and critics, he affirmed.
Bilawal pledged that PPP stands for the freedom of media and will not let the bill pass in any way.
“Pakistan media is going through the worst time of censorship under the PTI rule”, he said, adding that the way the government deals with its opponents and critics is reminiscent of the Salem witch trials.
The PTI’s stance is straight out of Goebbels’ propaganda playbook, he remarked.
Bilawal also urged the media fraternity to raise its voice in this regard.
