Aussies middle-order batsman Steven Smith on Monday reclaimed the No.2 spot in the ICC Test rankings.

The right-hand batsman is only nine rating points behind table-topper Virat Kohli despite being banned for a year following his involvement in last year’s ball-tampering incident in South Africa.

However, pacer Pat Cummins has solidified his position at the top of the rankings for bowlers via brilliant performances in the Ashes so far.

Amidst English players, pacer Jofra Archer, who scalped match figures of 5/91 on debut at Lord’s, broke through in the rankings system at No.83 and left-arm spinner Jake Leach claimed eight spots to be No.40 after taking 4/56 in the same game.

Ben Stokes (six spots up to No.26), Jonny Bairstow (seven spots up to No.30) and Rory Burns (17 spots up to No.64) were the other England cricketers to have advanced in Test rankings.
