RAWALPINDI: Another army jawan embraced martyrdom due to unprovoked Indian firing across the Line of Control, stated DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor, on Friday.

The information was tweeted by DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor.

“Another brave son of soil laid his life in the line of duty. Sepoy Muhammad Sheeraz embraced shahadat due to Indian firing in Buttal Sector along LOC,” he tweeted.

On Thursday, Indian forces fired across the Line of Control, targeting Pakistani check-posts. Pakistan border forces responded, killing five Indian soldiers and losing three of its own.

Tensions have been high between India and Pakistan ever since the former revoked Article 370 of the Indian constitution.

India illegally annexed Kashmir and bifurcated the occupied territory into two different units. Pakistan rejected the Indian move and said that it would protest against the decision at every forum.

On Thursday, thousands of protesters gathered outside the Indian high commission in London to protest against India’s atrocities in Kashmir.
