ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has cancelled his official visit to United Arab Emirates (UAE) after Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi was awarded the top civilian aware of the Gulf nation.

The Senate chairman was scheduled to visit UAE from August 25 to August 28. However, the visit was canceled in the solidarity with the occupied Kashmir.

“The Senate chairman, however, decided to cancel the trip as Pakistan vehemently supports Kashmiri peoples’ right to freedom from Indian occupation and condemns India’s atrocities in the occupied valley,” a statement from the Senate Secretariat said.

Modi was awarded ‘Order of Zeal’ the UAE’s highest civilian honour on Saturday despite continuous Indian atrocities in Muslim-majority Kashmir.

He was also conferred the award at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi.
