PML-N MPA accused of raping & blackmailing university student
MULTAN: A PML-N MPA has been accused of raping and blackmailing a female university student in Multan for the past 11 months, as per a local report.
The Express Tribune reported that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA Attaur Rehman, elected from PP-210 (Lodhran-IV) in the 2018 general elections, has been accused of raping a university student multiple times over the past 11 months.
According to an application filed by the student against the Punjab lawmaker, she used to work for an NGO by the name of Pakistan Human Development Foundation (PHDF). The report claimed that Rehman runs the NGO.
In the guise of work, the PML-N lawmaker took the student to a secluded work in his car where he allegedly raped her. The PML-N lawmaker recorded the crime on his mobile phone and threatened the student of releasing the video if she reported him.
He allegedly raped her multiple times over the past 11 months by using the video as blackmail until she fell sick one day and got admitted to a hospital.
The report mentions that Rehman tried to settle the matter with the student by offering her Rs70 million initially.
The student attached WhatsApp messages sent to her by the accused and her medical records in her application to the magistrate.
The court has ordered strict action against the suspect in light of the evidence submitted against him.
