PEMRA puts news channel, host on notice over false news against Dam funds
The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued a show-cause notice to a local news channel for raising propaganda against the Supreme Court’s Dam Fund.
The media regulatory body sent notices to the channel G News Network (GNN) as well as its show host Ayesha Bakhsh for propagating false news regarding the funds.
According to the notice, the tickers and content of their show Face to Face said the funds gathered for the cause were misused and were kept in a commercial bank instead of the State Bank of Pakistan.
PEMRA has granted the channel and the hostess 5 days to clarify the act for violating policies under its articles 27, 29 and 30.

During the show, the hostess Ayesha Bakhsh alleged the government of taking money from the general public under the cause, while money was also deducted from salaries, railway tickets were also charged in this regard.
The channel also claimed that the government’s money has been withdrawn from the dam fund and used for paying utility bills.
