Maryam Nawaz arrested by NAB from Kot Lakhpat jail
LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday arrested Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz.
The bureau had summoned the daughter of former premier Nawaz Sharif today for inquiry in Chaudhry Sugar Mills case but she requested pardon in order to meet her father.
NAB officials took Maryam into custody today when she arrived at Kot Lakpath jail to meet her father who is serving jail time in Avenfield case.
It is pertinent to mention that the NAB officials have also taken Yusuf Abbas, nephew of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, into custody in the Chaudhry Sugar Mill case.
According to details, the two PML-N leaders have been shifted to NAB office.
Pakistan People’s Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto condemned the arrest of the PML-N leader and walked out of the National Assembly session in protest.
PML-N members have launched a protest outside the Parliament House after the Assembly session was adjourned today following a ruckus in the house over Maryam’s arrest.
