FM Qureshi briefs UN chief on Kashmir situation
NEW YORK: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has drawn the UN’s attention towards a precarious peace situation in the region due to India’s illegal move to annex Kashmir.
The FM was speaking to United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres during a telephonic conversation.
Qureshi maintained that India had put the entire Kashmir valley under complete communications lockdown.
“India has also violated the UN resolutions and contravened the international laws,” he said.
Qureshi told the UN Secretary General that a delegation of Indian opposition led by Rahul Gandhi was forced to return from Srinagar airport after it arrived to assess the situation of Occupied Kashmir.
Foreign Minister said the reports emerging from international media and international human rights organizations about situation in Occupied Kashmir are alarming.
