British boxer Amir Khan announces Pakistan visit to highlight Kashmir issue
British boxer of Pakistani origin Amir Khan has announced that he will be traveling to Pakistan in a bid to to draw the world’s attention towards the ‘terrible situation in Kashmir.”
“I’m visiting Pakistan, Line of Control ( LOC), to make my voice heard, bring greater awareness to the terrible situation in Kashmir and call for peace @UN charter Thank you @officialdgispr for the opportunity,” Khan tweeted.
His visit comes amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India over New Delhi’s decision to strip the Indian-occupied Kashmir of its autonomy and split the region into two union territories.
The IOK remains under strict curfew for the past 19 days.
Hundreds of protesters defied the curfew after Friday prayers in Srinagar to protest the unlawful Indian actions in the valley.
