Basit Ali in tears as PCB abolish departmental cricket
KARACHI: Former Pakistan opening batsman Basit Ali became emotional while criticising the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB’s) move to end departmental cricket.
While speaking in a video message, Basit Ali lashed out at PCB and said that domestic cricketers will bear the financial consequences of PCB’s latest move.
“There is already enough inflation in the country, so if cricketers lose their jobs because of no departmental cricket, how will they survive?’ questioned Basit. ‘I request the PCB to hold at least one fifty-over and one Twenty20 competition for department teams in a domestic season, so that players don’t lose their jobs.”

Basit also urged former cricketers to raise this issue with the PCB’s Patron-in-Chief Imran Khan.
“I request Rashid Latif, Shoaib Akhtar, Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja to raise their voice on this issue. If you do not speak, it will be wrong,” he said. “Please give your opinion on this matter to the Prime Minister as he values your advice.”
