SJC sends show-cause notice to Justice Isa for writing to President Alvi

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has issued another show-cause notice to Supreme Court’s Justice Qazi Faez Isa for writing letters to President Arif Alvi.

Justice Isa has been mandated to submit response on the show-cause notice within 14 days.

Justice Faez Isa has two show-cause notices issued against him, another for allegedly holding undeclared foreign properties.

Sindh High Court Judge Justice KK Agha is also served a show-cause notice for owning undeclared properties abroad.

Both the show-cause notices were issued on July 16.

A Lahore-based lawyer Waheed Shahzad Butt had filed a complaint against Justice Isa for violating the code of conduct for members of the judiciary by “writing letters to President Arif Alvi” and sharing it with the media.

In May, President Arif Alvi authorized the filing of references with the SJC against Justice Isa and Sindh High Court’s Justice KK Agha for allegedly not disclosing their foreign properties in their wealth statements.

Justice Isa wrote a letter to President Alvi seeking clarity regarding the reports, and another letter requesting the president for a copy of the reference filed against him.
