Qureshi calls for immediate release of Alamgir Khan
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi called for the Sindh government to release PTI MNA Alamgir Khan.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday, Qureshi said that Alamgir’s arrest was unlawful and uncalled for.
“I demand the immediate release of PTI MNA Alamgir Khan. It is unlawful and uncalled for. Sindh’s moral police needs to keep it’s police in check.They need to practice what they preach,” he said.
His tweet came hours after Mr Khan, who is also the founder of Fixit, joined a protest at Teen Talwar in Karachi against the Sindh government. Scores of PPP workers also reached Teen Talwar, leading to a clash between the two sides.
The Sindh police intervened to break up the protest, arresting several people, including Alamgir Khan.
The PTI MNA was transferred to Frere Hall Police Station.
Meanwhile, Sindh Local Body Minister Saeed Ghani visited the arrested PPP workers to express his solidarity. He said that the PPP would go to courts to demand justice.
