India’s entertainment journalists to boycott Kangana Ranaut
MUMBAI: India’s entertainment journalist body has announced that it will boycott Kangana Ranaut over her verbal spat with a journalist at a promotional event.
A delegation from the Entertainment Journalists’ Guild of India met film producer Ekta Kapoor on Tuesday and called for a public apology.
Members of the Guild also demanded both Kapoor and Ranaut apologize to journalists.
Kapoor, who is producing Ranaut’s upcoming film Judgementall Hai Kya, agreed to issue the apology and expressed regret over Sunday’s incident.
“We, as a guild, have collectively decided to boycott Ms Ranaut and not give her any media coverage,” the delegation said in its letter to Kapoor.
The boycott will not affect the film or the rest of the cast, it added.
This comes two days after Kangana Ranaut scolded a journalist for writing negatively about her previous film. The actress further accused the journalist of running a smear campaign against her.
The journalist Justin Rao rejected the allegations.
