Imad rejects the news regarding poor relations between him and Sarfaraz over captaincy
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan cricket team all-rounders Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan credited the skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed and players for showing their strength in the last four matches but still not qualifying for the semis really hurt them a lot.
While talking to reporters at Rawalpindi, Imad Wasim said that the overall performance was good but for me qualifying into the semis or winning the Cricket World Cup would have given more joy on the faces of our fans.
On the other hand, Shadab Khan said “Our performance was good. We as a team tried hard to overcome our mistakes and wanted to make it to the final fours.”
Imad recalled the meeting with the captain Sarfraz Ahmed after India’s loss and coined it one of the turning points for them in the mega event. “We were very down after that defeat and to be honest every player was equally disappointed. We decided to take a two-day rest from cricket and after that, the captain called a meeting in which we discussed the things regarding the way forward. It was casual meet-up between us and Sarfraz motivated us a lot,” he said.
The left-hander all-rounder rejected the news regarding poor relations between him and captain Sarfaraz over captaincy.
“I think the coaching staff has done a great job and helped us a lot throughout our World Cup campaign,” said Imad.
