IHC decides to remove accountability judge Arshad Malik from post
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday requested the law ministry to remove accountability court judge Arshad Malik from his post over the video controversy.
The decision comes in the light of a letter the judge wrote to the top court earlier today, disowning claims of PML-N as well as a video showing the judge declaring lack of evidence in the case against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Sources said, judge Malik was interrogated about meeting PML-N’s Butt and others, however, he failed to satisfy the Chief Justice Farooq with his answers.
Judge Arshad Malik termed them as edited, fabricated, aimed to defame him, an IHC spokesperson said, adding that acting IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq will give an appropriate order on it.
The PML-N had released the video clip of judge video scandal allegedly involving Malik in a press conference by party leaders last week.
In the video, Malik can be heard confessing to PML-N worker Nasir Butt that there were no strong pieces of evidence of corruption against Nawaz Sharif.
