ISLAMABAD: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari advised Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani to step down from his post otherwise he would be removed on Thursday.
Speaking to media, Bilawal urged Mr Sanjrani to resign voluntarily or he would be removed through the voting process on Thursday.
A session of the upper house of the parliament will be held on Thursday in which a no-trust motion demanded by the opposition will be held.
The opposition leads as far as the numbers game is concerned. Sixty-five senators of the opposition are expected to vote against the chairman senate. Meanwhile, the government can only muster 36 senators for its cause.
“I have told Mr Sanjrani earlier as well to step down from his post,” he said. “Principally, it would have been the better step to take. Otherwise, he knows the number of senators that the opposition has and he will have to go tomorrow,” he added.
Mr Hasil Bizenjo said that he had won the chairman senate position the day his name was nominated for the post.
PML-N’s Mushahidullah Khan said that the PTI government had lied about everything. He also called on the senate chairman to resign from his post.
The decision to oust the senate chairman had been taken by the PPP and the PML-N leadership when Maryam Nawaz and Bilawal Bhutto had held a one-on-one meeting a few months ago.
