Be Pakistani, pay taxes: Tareen backs PM’s campaign to document economy
ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen has urged the nation to help Prime Minister Imran Khan in his efforts to document economy.
Taking to Twitter on Monday, Tareen said that Imran Khan was trying to get Pakistan out of the debt trap.
“For the first time in our history, a leader is genuinely trying to get Pakistan out of the debt trap. He has taken an extremely bold decision to document the unregistered economy. We all must assist him as he strives 4 a Debt Free Pakistan #BePakistaniPayTaxes,” Tareen tweeted.
The tax campaign was run by the ruling party’s official Twitter handle.
“There is no government in the world today that does not collect tax in one way or another, and the reason is to sustain itself. Because taxes are the life source of a nation, we should be patriotic to this life source in order to keep the nation functioning,” PTI tweeted.
“Pakistan is amongst the least tax paying countries. Prosperity can only be assured if the citizens will pay their taxes,” it added.
