Anti-polio drive focuses on refusal cases in KP
PESHAWAR: A four-day anti-polio vaccination drive has been kick-started in areas with its focus on families reluctant to vaccinate their children.
The recent drive, slated to initiate on Monday (today) in Torghar and Shangla, is expected to immunise as much as 614500 children.
In a press release, the health authorities assured that the drive will cover the missed children on the fourth day— given that the main reason for the increase in polio cases has been refusal cases and routine-immunization-zero-dosed children.
The drive will be supervised by commissioners, deputy commissioners and district health officers with the support of police and members of the law enforcement agencies.
Four more polio cases surfaced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces on Sunday, bringing the total number of these cases to 35 in KP districts and 45 across the country this year.
